Estimator

EWI Recruitment

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive and commercially sound estimates for a varied portfolio of projects. Working closely with clients, project managers, suppliers and operational teams, you will assess requirements, interpret specifications and produce detailed costings that support successful project delivery and business growth. This role will suit someone with strong numerical ability, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documents; preparing bills of quantities, material take-offs and labour estimates; obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations; and identifying risks, exclusions, assumptions and potential cost-saving opportunities. You will maintain accurate estimating records, update pricing databases and contribute to tender submissions, ensuring all proposals are clear, commercially robust and submitted on time. You will also liaise with internal stakeholders to clarify technical requirements, support handovers to delivery teams and assist with post-tender reviews, cost analysis and continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Applicants should have previous experience in an estimating, quantity surveying or commercially focused role, ideally within a construction, engineering, manufacturing or related project environment. You will need the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation, use estimating or spreadsheet software confidently, and apply sound commercial judgement. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a methodical approach to workload management and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team. A relevant technical, commercial or industry qualification would be advantageous, as would experience with procurement, contract requirements and competitive tendering. In return, this opportunity offers professional development, varied project exposure and the chance to make a measurable contribution to high-quality, commercially successful outcomes.
