Job Title: DispatcherJob Description The 3rd Shift & Weekend Dispatcher plays a crucial role in maintaining operational continuity outside of standard business hours. This position supports drivers in home‑daily and over‑the‑road positions at terminals located in Cedar Rapids, IA, Circle Pines, MN, and Columbus, OH. Working under the direction of the Off‑Shift Supervisor, the dispatcher serves as the primary point of contact for drivers during their shift, ensuring that loads move as planned, drivers remain informed, and any operational issues are resolved or documented before the dayshift resumes. Responsibilities Serve as the primary contact for approximately 250 drivers across three terminals during assigned shift hours via the ISAAC Instruments ELD and in‑cab messaging platform. Dispatch drivers and respond to inbound messages promptly; provide load plans, customer information, routing guidance, fuel solutions, and local directions for effective trip planning. Monitor driver availability, hours of service (HOS) status, and location to proactively address coverage gaps and prevent service failures. Maintain accurate ETAs and PTAs throughout the shift; update records in ICC/AS400 and AOS as conditions change. Identify and resolve load plan conflicts or driver availability changes, including setting up rescues, or elevate to the Off‑Shift Supervisor with context and a recommended solution. Notify dayshift with documented handoff notes in the TMS if pre‑plans or load plans will not execute as designed. Handle customer service tasks during the shift, including delivery status updates and exception management. Communicate service risks to appropriate parties and document all actions taken. Produce a clear and complete shift summary for dayshift covering open issues, driver status exceptions, and unresolved load conflicts. Maintain a continuous operational record in ICC/AS400 and AOS throughout the shift for immediate day shift action. Support driver retention by treating every driver interaction with respect, urgency, and professionalism. Participate in cross‑departmental training and pursue ongoing self‑improvement. Perform other duties as assigned by the Off‑Shift Supervisor. Essential Skills Customer service Dispatching Data entry Proficiency in Microsoft Office Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Sound judgment and problem‑solving ability. Reliability and punctuality are essential. Prior experience in transportation, logistics, or trucking operations is preferred. Experience managing high volumes of simultaneous driver or customer communications across multiple locations is preferred. Work Environment The work environment is a trucking office setting, where the dispatcher will collaborate with other off‑shift personnel to ensure seamless operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $26.44/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
