Essential Responsibilities Operation of a platform drill Cat 6200 and a Sandvik Leopard DI650i Operate and understand mechanics of a top head drilling unit equipped with multi-function joysticks and GPS on a mine site Comply with all company, client, legislated safety policies and procedures of drilling in a large open- pit surface mine Understand the limitations of the drill rig and the performance it can safely provide Detect and perform small mechanical repairs to the drill Communicate effectively and professionally with other team members when needed with the ability to work with minimal supervision Qualifications Minimum one year’s surface drilling experience using various drilling units Have thorough knowledge of drill patterns and the structure in which they are developed MSHA p.48 metal/nonmetal ticket is required; training and support is provided to obtain or update certificate as needed Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing Work Conditions 5 days on with 4 days off, working 12 hour days that have the potential to alternate between a day and night shift rotation Overtime rates apply after 40 hours per week and are paid at time and a half Living out allowance provided for those who qualify Extended Health & Wellness Benefits provided Work will be primarily outdoors and in various weather conditions Opportunity for long term employment Additional Information Ledcor Heavy Civil and Mining services reach across the lifespan of a mine, from facility construction, to full-scale contract mining of coal, minerals, or metals, all the way to mine reclamation.
