About the Role

We’re looking for a Product Lead to help build an AI-native platform designed to transform how accounting firms operate.

We’re starting with practice management software for accounting firms working alongside AI agents, with a broader vision to build the financial infrastructure and back office for small and mid-sized businesses.

This is an opportunity for someone with deep hands-on experience in accounting, finance, tax, or related operations who wants to move beyond traditional workflows and help build the products that will replace them.

You’ll work directly with accounting professionals and customers, identify opportunities for automation, turn ideas into prototypes, and partner closely with engineers to bring those products into production.

You don't need to come from a traditional product or engineering background. We’re looking for someone who understands how financial work actually gets done and is excited to learn how to build with AI.

What You'll Own

• Product and operational initiatives, from discovery through implementation
• Product discovery and customer development
• Product and UI/UX design
• Workflow analysis and opportunities for AI automation
• Customer-facing product features and improvements
• Evaluating how work should be performed by AI agents, AI workflows, or traditional software
• Working closely with engineering to turn customer problems into useful, scalable products

What You'll Do

• Work directly with accounting firms and users to understand their workflows, pain points, and needs
• Conduct user interviews and process discovery to identify opportunities for automation
• Partner with product and engineering teams to define requirements and shape the roadmap
• Prototype new product concepts and test them with customers
• Partner with Applied AI engineers to develop evaluation methodologies, datasets, and processes that improve AI reliability
• Analyze workflows and production data to understand how AI systems are performing
• Use UnitedOS directly and translate your experience into product insights
• Help implement small- to medium-sized customer-facing features
• Work closely with the CEO and CTO on product strategy and prioritization
• Take ambiguous problems from an initial idea through implementation and measurable results

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in accounting, finance, tax, audit, controllership, or a closely related field
• A deep understanding of how accounting and financial workflows actually operate
• Experience working through complex, deadline-driven processes such as month-end close, audit, tax, reconciliation, or financial reporting
• A generalist mindset and willingness to get into the details — from customer conversations and workflow analysis to product design and troubleshooting
• Strong interest in AI, automation, fintech, and the future of accounting
• Ability to think from first principles and determine what should be handled by AI agents, AI workflows, or deterministic software
• Strong product judgment and an excellent eye for user experience and design
• Technical fluency and curiosity. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable with concepts such as clients, servers, databases, APIs, and modern AI coding tools
• Evidence of taking ambiguous problems from idea to implementation and measurable outcome
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers, executives, and engineers
• High ownership and willingness to work hands-on rather than simply delegate

Particularly Valuable Experience

We’re especially interested in candidates who have:

• Big 4 or comparable accounting/audit experience
• Progressed from Senior Associate to Manager or equivalent
• CPA or a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience with tools such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, Sage, Alteryx, Excel/VBA, or SQL
• Built or implemented accounting automation or financial systems
• Worked at an early-stage company or directly with founders/executives
• Experience owning operational processes or projects in addition to traditional accounting responsibilities
• Started experimenting with AI coding tools or building simple applications themselves
• A track record of identifying inefficient processes and finding better ways to accomplish the work
