CEI Inspector II

We are looking for an experienced Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) – Inspector 2 to join our Metro Atlanta team. In this role you will manage relationships with GDOT and other transportation agencies, oversee roadway construction projects, and help grow the CEI team in Atlanta. Responsibilities The successful candidate will: Perform independent complex inspections of roadways and structure construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract. Conduct routine and standardized inspections. Inspect asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; evaluate pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment and compaction; check roadways and structures for conformance to plans, specifications, structural materials and members; assess placement of culverts, foundation excavation, piling, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete and backfill; and supervise traffic control and erosion control devices. Calculate and compute more complex engineering calculations as required. Carry out contract documentation duties, including field measurements of pay items and other required documentation. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or an associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and at least six months of related experience. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering in the construction of highways, bridges and related fields. Three (3) years of managerial/supervisory experience (or project leader or lead worker experience as a substitute). Extensive knowledge of GDOT roadway and bridge construction, engineering policies and procedures. Ability to pass GDOT certifications within 6 months of hire and pass group 1 and 2 GDOT ESDT within the first year. Preferred Construction engineering and management experience. Knowledge of CEI and PMCM methodologies. The base salary range for this position is $68,640.00 to $72,800.00. Pay is hourly based on hours worked and is determined by work location and additional factors.
