Primary Summary Sets up and operate machines with computer controls that use single or multiple spindle lathe type screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms to machine metal bar stock. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures. Remove and replace dull cutting tools. Mount, install, align and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Listen to machines during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems. Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences. Reads blueprint or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number or parts to be formed and tooling instruction on type tooling required. Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations. Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performing other housekeeping duties. Attends all required job related training (internal and external). All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times. Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results. Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying Supervisor. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibility. Education And/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer mainframe systems, data entry, and be familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic algebra and basic geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, licenses, registrations Evidence of "US person" is required under ITAR. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Environment, Health and Safety While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The responsibilities of the position include compliance with company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures. The employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment in specified areas. Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope. Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work. Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives.
