RN Clinical Nurse II-OR - Operating Room

Overview UNC Rex Holly Springs has a robust and efficient surgical program. We perform both inpatient and outpatient procedures on adult and pediatric populations in our 3 operating rooms and 1 procedure room. This position requires at least one year of OR nursing experience. Summary Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Responsibilities Education – Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers and developmental level of patient. Evaluation of Care – Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revision of plan of care. Participates in discussion with interdisciplinary team. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Implementation – Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population–appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects. Performs bedside point of care testing as required. Utilizes organization policies and procedures. Organizes and prioritizes care. Consults with resources regarding complex care issues. Leadership – Develops goals to promote professional growth. Participates in unit goals and performance improvement. Uses communication systems. Promotes cost–effective care. Gives feedback to co‑workers. Supports a safe hospital environment. Patient Assessment – Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Includes appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs. Synthesizes assessment data. Anticipates discharge needs. Planning – Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update plan of care. Utilizes multidisciplinary resources. Addresses cultural and ethnic issues. Prioritizes tasks for complex patients. Research – Reads journals and brings ideas to staff for applicability. Qualifications Education Requirements: Graduation from a school of professional nursing. New hires must be enrolled within four years of employment and obtain a bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a master’s within seven years. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. Professional Experience Requirements: One year of nursing experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Professional knowledge and skills relevant to operative nursing practice.
