Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care tailored to the age and specific needs of the patient population served on the assigned units. This role ensures that quality care is delivered efficiently and safely, adhering to the unit's standards of care while demonstrating a commitment to the mission and goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments and establish priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Reassess patients systematically to monitor progress and identify trends requiring intervention.
• Develop and implement individualized, measurable plans of care within the established timeframe.
• Make informed nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluation of patient outcomes, modifying care plans as necessary.
• Engage in patient and significant others' health education and discharge planning.
• Execute timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and document them accordingly.
• Perform various Point of Care testing procedures.

Staff Responsibilities

• Utilize effective communication strategies to achieve intended outcomes.
• Delegate unit work assignments appropriately to ensure prompt and thorough completion of patient care support tasks.
• Coordinate team assignments and adjust based on patient and unit needs while following up on delegated tasks for quality assurance.
• Participate in the orientation of new staff and students.
• Act as a resource for visitors, physicians, and staff, providing courteous and prompt assistance.
• Foster a positive work environment by demonstrating a professional, supportive attitude towards unit staff.
• Participate in the growth and development of the unit to enhance organizational performance.

Customer Relations

• Exhibit behaviors that promote high levels of patient and customer satisfaction.
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and harmony.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment or a compact state license.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of current practices and skills relevant to the patient population served.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and their families.

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, including weekend rotations of 2 to 4 shifts per month.
