About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Critical Care Profession: RN Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: One year of recent acute care RN experience in an operating room License: Current RN license in state of practice Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Must-Have: Graduate of a school of nursing Description: This position involves performing the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. Responsible for coordinating, managing, providing, and delegating patient care. Meets established Standards of Nursing Practice and promotes cooperation among the health care team. Responsible for assuring patients' personal needs are met. Assists in reducing noise levels on the nursing unit. Demonstrates a commitment to co-workers and works as a team to ensure all patients have their needs met. Maintains patient, co-worker, and facility privacy. Documentation must be clear, concise, and legible. Delivers a clear, concise report. Completes all assigned quality monitors as directed by department management. Follows infection control guidelines. Obtains history and physical assessment according to unit-specific nursing protocols for all age groups. Reviews medical history and all available assessment data. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports to the appropriate person. Provides timely information needed to begin discharge planning. Recognizes signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to effectively function in emergency situations. Administers and charts medications according to policies and procedures using patients' six rights. Implements and/or assists others in the execution and documentation of planned education. Assesses patients' educational needs. Assists in the development and education of new staff members. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Completes education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills. Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow. Ensures all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilizes departmental resources appropriately. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
