Founded in the 1880s as a one-room schoolhouse located in historic Columbia State Park Columbia Union School District (CUSD) is a one-school elementary district serving about 500 students in grades kindergarten through eight. Located two miles north of Sonora in the gold country of the Sierra Nevada Foothills Columbia Elementary School relocated in-1936 when a new school building was constructed on Parrotts Ferry Road. Over the years the campus has expanded to meet theneeds of the growing 2007 the district completed the construction of 19 state-of-the-art classrooms and an Education Sports and Performing Arts Elementary focuses on the success of the whole child. The parents staff and students focus on creating unique learning opportunities to ensure students leave our school ready for high school and beyond. Columbia Elementary enjoys the support of our parents and community members. The community surrounding the school is made up of a variety of businesses and private homes. Columbia Elementarys campus is large and generally spread out. The students have modern facilities and access to technology in their classrooms.
