Job Description
Reports To: Clinical Operations Manager
Introduction
ProTeam Tactical Performance partners with Las Vegas area public safety agencies to keep the community’s protectors healthy, resilient, and ready for duty. Our mission is to deliver rapid, professional, and evidence-informed musculoskeletal care that reduces injuries, shortens time away from work, and supports long, healthy careers in public safety.
If you are a Physical Therapist who is passionate about serving law enforcement and fire service personnel in an on‑site, team‑based environment, consider the following opportunity.
Purpose of the Position
The Tactical Physical Therapist provides on‑site injury care, rehabilitation, and return‑to‑duty guidance for Las Vegas public safety professionals. This position focuses on high-quality orthopedic/sports rehabilitation, work-comp care coordination, and proactive injury-prevention education in close collaboration with an on‑site strength & conditioning professional and the broader clinical team.
Essential Functions
Injury Care and Rehabilitation
- Provide on‑site evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for work-related and private insurance musculoskeletal injuries for law enforcement, fire, and other public safety personnel.
- Conduct functional duty assessments and provide clear recommendations regarding return-to-duty, duty modifications, and work restrictions.
- Develop and progress individualized, evidence-informed rehabilitation plans tailored to the specific physical demands of public safety work.
- Collaborate with the on‑site strength & conditioning professional to ensure seamless transition from rehabilitation to performance training and long-term resilience programming.
- Educate patients on injury mechanisms, self-management strategies, and long-term joint and spine health.
Program Collaboration and Case Management
- Coordinate care with referring physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure high-quality, timely, and compliant care for each patient.
- Serve as a clinical resource to command staff and agency leadership regarding injury trends, duty readiness, and safe return-to-work planning.
- Participate in case review meetings with the strength & conditioning professional and ProTeam leadership to align clinical care with performance and wellness initiatives.
- Support workers’ compensation navigation by providing timely documentation, objective functional information, and clear communication to all stakeholders.
Documentation, Data, and Reporting
- Document all patient encounters in the electronic medical record system in accordance with professional, legal, and payer standards.
- Track key clinical metrics (e.g., time lost, case duration, mechanism of injury, functional outcomes) and assist leadership in using this data to improve programs and services.
- Provide regular, concise injury and outcomes reports to the Chief Operations Officer and agency stakeholders to support accountability and continuous improvement.
Education, Outreach, and Professional Representation
- Provide group and one‑on‑one education on topics such as injury prevention, ergonomics, load management, recovery, and early symptom reporting.
- Participate in recruit academy education and in-service sessions for incumbent staff as requested by agency leadership.
- Serve as an advocate for ProTeam Tactical Performance, modeling our values of professionalism, respect for public safety culture, and commitment to evidence-informed practice.
- Contribute to the development of educational materials, presentations, and resources for public safety personnel.
Hours/Days of Shift
- Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday 7a-6p
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from a CAPTE-accredited program.
- Minimum of 3 years of outpatient orthopedic and/or sports medicine experience.
- Current Physical Therapist licensure in Nevada or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date.
- Demonstrated experience managing active, high-demand populations.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience working with tactical athletes (military, fire, law enforcement) and/or professional or collegiate athletics.
- Familiarity with workers’ compensation systems and return-to-work coordination.
- Experience collaborating with strength & conditioning staff, athletic trainers, or performance coaches.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Clinical and Technical
- Strong orthopedic examination and manual therapy skills with the ability to independently manage complex musculoskeletal conditions within state practice guidelines.
- Proficiency in designing and progressing individualized home exercise programs and functional return-to-duty preparation.
- Ability to interpret functional testing, duty simulations, and strength measures in collaboration with the strength & conditioning professional.
- Competence using electronic medical record systems and basic productivity tools for documentation and reporting.
Interpersonal and Communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with law enforcement and fire service personnel.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Clear and concise written communication skills for clinical documentation, reports, and patient education.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team that includes strength & conditioning, operations leadership, and agency partners.
Professionalism and Critical Thinking
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritize tasks, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Sound clinical judgment and critical thinking in high‑stress situations, including managing acute injuries and complex work-comp considerations.
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, and compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development through courses, mentoring, and engagement with tactical and sports medicine best practices.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Medium physical demand role that includes frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry more than 55 lbs and to assist with transfers of equipment and materials as needed.
- Functional abilities including visual acuity, speech, hearing, and hand‑eye coordination sufficient to perform evaluations, treatments, and documentation.
- Ability to work occasional extended or irregular hours to support training events
Schedule
- Flexible part-time schedule of approximately 16–20 hours per week. Hours may include:
- Weekends: Saturday and/or Sunday, with flexible start/end times
- Evenings: Monday–Friday from 4:00–8:00 PM
- Combination: A mix of weekend and evening hours based on availability
- Schedule is flexible and can be tailored to the candidate’s availability; working all listed shifts is not required.
Travel
- Occasional travel between Las Vegas public safety locations as dictated by contractual obligations and program needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- None at this time; however, the Tactical Physical Therapist will be expected to provide clinical mentorship and guidance to students, residents, or support staff as applicable.
Patient Load
- At ProTeam, we strive to change the way patient care is provided by keeping our care to 1 patient per provider, whenever possible.
- Patient volume will vary based on contractual obligations, operational tempo, and injury trends. The Tactical Physical Therapist is expected to manage caseload efficiently while maintaining high standards of care and documentation.
If you’re driven to support those who protect our communities and want to practice at the intersection of outpatient orthopedics, tactical medicine, and high-performance teamwork, we invite you to apply for the Tactical Physical Therapist – Las Vegas position.
