Underwriting Specialist

By Chisago Lakes - German Farmers Mutual Insurance Company The Underwriting Specialist is a critical member of the Mutual team, reporting to the Mutual Manager. This role requires an experienced underwriter to write unique, highly personalized policies to cover a wide range of rural properties and customers. In addition to underwriting all business transacted at the Mutual, the Underwriting Specialist leads agent education programs and engages with all agents for the purpose of promoting Chisago Lakes-German Farmers Mutual Insurance Company. This role is responsible for providing exceptional, comprehensive agent support and for driving awareness within the community by collaborating on the development and execution of the marketing strategy. Essential Functions Underwrite and process new business, endorsements, automatic renewals and formal renewals Process premium installments Notify reinsurance of large risks Collaborate with management to coordinate inspection and execute recommended underwriting corrections and improvements. Review and develop new forms to properly insure mutual policyholders Maintain the underwriting manual for the agency force Manage general administrative tasks Agent Education and Engagements Maintain agent relationships by providing training and support to understand our products Manage all logistical details for agents meeting as well as the Annual Meeting Marketing Develop a marketing strategy with Board and Management to differentiate CL-GF Mutual from the competition. Maintain website and execute social media marketing strategy, including creating and maintaining business pages on Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Qualifications Required Minnesota Property and Casualty license Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and other office management systems Demonstrates strong research capabilities and resourcefulness in locating accurate and relevant information Ability to work independently while being a team-player Preferred MIPS management system Accounting knowledge with basic Accounts Receivable and Payable Farm background or farm insurance experience We Offer Flexible hours Summer hours Simple IRA with 3% company match Paid holidays Dental and vision insurance for employee At Chisago Lakes-German Farmers Mutual Insurance Company, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors, including your professional background and experience.
