FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Dispatch Coordinator to support dispatch coordination and client services call handling for a medical reference laboratory. This temporary, onsite role is responsible for coordinating phlebotomist and courier routes, managing standing and urgent pickup requests, entering and monitoring requests in OnFleet, answering inbound calls, routing callers to the correct resource, and supporting day-to-day logistics and scheduling needs. The ideal candidate will have dispatch experience, strong communication skills, a good sense of direction, the ability to multitask between calls and active routing, and the ability to identify patterns that may help improve dispatch efficiency.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Managing phlebotomist travel for standing orders to client locations for draws and sample pickups
• Processing incoming ad hoc or urgent pickup requests as they come in
• Entering and managing pickup and delivery requests in OnFleet
• Monitoring phlebotomist and courier locations in real time through OnFleet
• Rerouting phlebotomists and couriers as needed based on call volume, priority, location, or last-minute changes
• Supporting efficient routing to help reduce missed pickups, unnecessary trips, and delays
• Answering inbound client services calls
• Routing callers to the correct person, department, or resource
• Communicating clearly with phlebotomists, couriers, clients, supervisors, and internal team members
• Supporting day-to-day logistics and scheduling needs across the dispatch function
• Learning and applying basic data analysis to identify patterns in standing orders and pickup activity
• Identifying repeated missed pickups, zero-sample days, or other routing inefficiencies
• Reporting dispatch trends or concerns to the supervisor for follow-up
• Balancing inbound call handling with active dispatch coordination
• Maintaining accurate information in dispatch systems and related records
• Following instructions, priorities, and scheduling updates from the supervisor
• Supporting a busy medical laboratory dispatch environment
• Performing other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

• 6 months to 2 years of relevant experience required
• Dispatch experience strongly preferred
• Courier dispatch, medical dispatch, transportation dispatch, logistics, routing, scheduling, or similar experience preferred
• Client services or customer service experience preferred
• Strong phone communication skills required
• Reliable verbal and written communication skills required
• Strong sense of direction and geographic awareness required
• Comfortable routing drivers, phlebotomists, or couriers to different locations required
• Ability to multitask between inbound calls and active dispatch coordination required
• Ability to stay organized while managing changing priorities
• Comfortable learning OnFleet or similar dispatch software required
• Basic aptitude for pattern recognition or data analysis preferred
• Willingness to learn basic dispatch-related data analysis required
• Ability to identify recurring issues and escalate them appropriately
• Strong attention to detail required
• Reliable attendance required
• Professional and customer-service-focused work style required
• Ability to work onsite in Irvine, CA
• Ability to work Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
• Ability to support a temporary assignment expected to last up to approximately 4 months

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while monitoring routes, entering requests, reviewing dispatch information, answering calls, and updating systems
• Ability to communicate by phone, email, dispatch software, and in person throughout the workday
• Ability to review pickup requests, route information, client details, dispatch updates, schedules, and computer screens for extended periods
• Ability to use hands and fingers for typing, dispatch entry, phone use, documentation, system updates, and standard office tasks
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the office as needed
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move standard office supplies, files, or small materials as needed
• Ability to maintain focus, accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail while handling calls, routing updates, and time-sensitive dispatch changes

Salary Range: $19 to $20/hour
