If you thrive in fast-moving industrial environments and take pride in a spotless, efficient yard, this role is for you. As PEC’s Steel Yard Material Handling Coordinator, you’ll be the go-to person for organizing structural steel, directing deliveries, and keeping travel lanes wide open.

• Production depends on the right steel in the right place at the right time.
• Drivers rely on you to move in and out safely and efficiently.
• Everyone counts on clean, hazard-free travel paths across the yard.

• Coordinate daily yard organization and the flow of materials through laydown areas.
• Load and unload trucks carrying structural members, fabricated components, and equipment.
• Operate forklifts and approved material-handling equipment safely to relocate and stage steel.
• Keep access lanes clear so trucks, forklifts, lifts, and other equipment can maneuver safely.
• Stage and prepare steel for production schedules, pickups, and the Python structural steel processing machine.
• Work closely with the Structural Steel Shop and fabrication teams on inbound and outbound materials.
• Guide drivers to correct loading/unloading areas and confirm materials are stored in assigned locations.
• Prevent misplacement, damage, and unsafe storage; maintain strong housekeeping standards.
• Remove debris, banding, and scrap from work and travel zones.
• Inspect forklifts and handling equipment before use and address/report hazards immediately.
• Follow PEC safety procedures and proper rigging practices when handling heavy or oversized steel.
• Support shop material movement and other related duties as needed.

• Forklift certification and proven safe operation.
• Experience loading/unloading and staging heavy materials.
• Ability to work safely around trucks, forklifts, lifts, and heavy equipment.
• Skill in organizing laydown yards and understanding staging sequences.
• Strong safety mindset, attention to detail, and housekeeping discipline.
• Clear communication with drivers, shop staff, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Dependability and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow directions and prioritize based on production and shipping timelines.

• Experience in a structural steel fabrication plant, steel yard, metal fabrication facility, or related industrial setting.
• Hands-on handling of beams, columns, tubing, plate, angle, and other structural shapes.
• Rigging skills for long, oversized, or heavy members.
• Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and equipment.
• Experience supporting automated structural processing equipment (Python or comparable systems).

• Outdoor and industrial environment work in varying weather.
• Standing, walking, bending, climbing, and regular physical tasks for the full shift.
• Safe work around moving vehicles, forklifts, cranes, lifts, and heavy materials.
• Lifting and carrying materials as needed.
