This Welder Helper position supports fabrication and welding operations in a high-performance manufacturing facility focused on aerospace components for launch vehicles and ground support equipment. You assist certified welders with day-to-day tasks, help prepare materials and work areas, and contribute to producing high-quality welded assemblies. This role is ideal for someone reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to build a career in welding by gaining hands-on experience and progressing into a full-time welder position after demonstrating skill and passing required tests.

Responsibilities:

• Assist certified welders with the setup, preparation, and execution of welding tasks to ensure efficient and accurate production.
• Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, cutting, and fitting components according to specifications.
• Move, stage, and organize materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently to support continuous workflow.
• Operate basic shop tools such as grinders, saws, and measuring devices in a safe and controlled manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas in accordance with 5S standards and company procedures.
• Support weld inspections by preparing parts, assisting with measurements, and documenting work as needed.
• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with welders, supervisors, and team members to meet production goals and resolve issues quickly.
• Apply basic fabrication and fitting practices to support the assembly of structural and spacecraft-related components.
• Handle materials and components carefully to protect equipment, maintain quality, and prevent damage.

Essential Skills:

• At least 6 months of experience in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment.
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately and apply basic measurements in daily tasks.
• Basic familiarity with welding environments, including working around MIG, TIG, flux core, arc, and shielded metal welding processes.
• Ability to operate basic shop tools such as grinders, saws, and measuring devices.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, move materials, and work in a fast-paced production environment.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent production schedules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a welding, fabrication, or metalworking environment.
• Familiarity with MIG and TIG welding processes; hands-on experience is helpful but not required.
• Experience with flux core, arc welding, shielded metal processes, and GTAW is beneficial.
• Experience operating material handling equipment in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read basic blueprints or technical drawings to understand weld and fit-up requirements.
• Exposure to fabrication work related to structural steel, fittings, and spacecraft components.
• Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and desire to develop into a skilled welder.
• Completion of welding courses or training programs, especially for candidates seeking to transition into a full-time welder role.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a high-performance manufacturing and fabrication facility focused on aerospace components, operating with advanced welding and fabrication technologies in a climate-controlled, state-of-the-art setting. The team currently works a schedule of 6 days per week with 11-hour shifts (6/11s), with typical hours of 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for day shifts and 6:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for night shifts. Primary shift patterns include Sunday through Thursday and Tuesday through Saturday, depending on assignment. You work around various welding roles such as structural welders, pipe welders, fitters, helpers, tool room staff, and painters, and you regularly interact with welding processes including MIG, TIG, flux core, arc, shielded metal, and GTAW. The environment emphasizes safety, use of appropriate PPE, adherence to 5S standards, and organized workspaces, with regular use of hand tools, power tools, grinders, saws, measuring devices, and material handling equipment. The facility promotes a professional, safety-conscious atmosphere where proper attire and PPE are required to perform hands-on industrial work safely.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cape Canaveral, FL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
