Job Summary Testing Recognized authority in the field with extensive experience in testing environments, deep knowledge of test‑assembly techniques, and advanced statistical techniques; able to design and oversee complex testing programs. Advanced skills in data acquisition, statistical analysis, measurement techniques, and signal‑processing methods. Leads large‑scale and high‑risk test programs, provides guidance on test‑planning best practices, and contributes to the development of test‑planning frameworks and methodologies. Communications Exceptional skills in communication theories, presentation design, technical presentation, and writing specialized technical documents. Expert guidance on complex communication challenges, develops compelling narratives, tailors content for specific audiences, and consults on presentation strategies and audience engagement methods. Excels in writing technical documents with precision and accuracy. Design Basic understanding of electromechanical actuators, igniters, pressure vessels, solid rocket motor systems, hot‑gas valves, and thrusters. Drafting/Modelling Expertise in creating intricate 2D or 3D designs, optimizing productivity through CAD commands and tools, producing precise technical drawings, and interpreting complex GD&T symbols. Creates 3D models and generates complex assemblies and technical drawings with precision. Systems Engineering Understanding of the tie‑in between testing and verification and validation of requirements. Develops program plans, understands acquisition life cycles, and coordinates activities. Foundational understanding of reliability and safety principles, advanced skills in requirements analysis, and comprehensive knowledge in risk management, leading activities, and developing tailored strategies. Project Management Basic financial knowledge, leads small teams, understands operations research principles, complex procurement tasks, creates simple proposals, and manages simple schedules. Communicates goals and expectations, develops procurement strategies, manages vendor evaluations, analyzes supplier performance, and implements effective contract management practices. Ballistics Understanding of propellant chemistry, combustion principles, grain geometry, internal ballistics, and solid propellant manufacturing processes, including types, composition, combustion mechanisms, and grain performance factors. System Performance Designs simple control systems using standard techniques, understands diagrams and specifications, and implements basic algorithms. Conducts requirements elicitation, prioritizes stakeholder needs, and documents requirements using standard templates. Understands solid rocket motor performance principles, including thrust, specific impulse, and propellant combustion. Analysis Understanding of CFD principles, navigates software interfaces, and performs simulations. Sets up and runs structural analysis models, interprets results, and applies engineering judgment. Performs dynamic analysis tasks, sets up thermal analysis models, and identifies manufacturing and assembly issues related to geometric tolerances. Avionics Understanding of basic battery design principles, cable/wire harness design, circuit board design, rocket motor ignition systems, and software design principles, contributing to tasks under guidance. Identifies common components and connections and contributes to the generation of basic software designs while following standard specifications and guidelines. Required Qualifications Fifteen (15) or more years of mechanical engineering experience. Bachelor of Science required in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university. May consider equivalent experience in lieu of a degree. Positive, cooperative, self‑motivated, and professional behavior. Contribute as necessary to get the job done. U.S. citizenship. Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Rocket motor design and testing experience. Master of Science required in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university.
