Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM

Unit Overview

We are a Surgical Oncology unit with a focus on providing quality care to our patients. Our team handles fifty percent of medical-surgical patients.

General Unit Information

Location: Medical City Plano, Plano, TX

Number of Beds: 30 bed unit

Staffing: 48 nurses, patient care technicians, and health unit coordinators

Typical Staff Breakdown:

• Day Shift: 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator, 5-6 Registered Nurses, 2 Patient Care Technicians
• Night Shift: 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator, 5-6 Registered Nurses, 2 Patient Care Technicians

Patient Ratios: Estimated 1:5/1:6

Type of Equipment: Baxter pumps, Sequential Compression Devices (SCD), Mobilab, Glucometer

Electronic Medical Records: Meditech

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• IV insertion
• Chemotherapy administration

Common Procedures Performed

• Medication administration
• Chest tube management
• Nasogastric tube (NGT) management
• Foley catheter management

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Floating Areas

Opportunities may include floating to Medical Oncology and Med/Surg units.

Dress Code

Scrub Color/Attire: Royal Blue

Unit Policies

Candidates must be able to adhere to the established attendance policy.

Weekend and On-Call Requirements

Staff is expected to work every other weekend or a total of four weekend shifts per month.
