Logistics Account Manager
Position Summary
The Account Manager plays a key role in delivering exceptional service to both customers and carrier partners while helping drive the growth of MLM Transport. This position is responsible for managing customer relationships, coordinating freight movements, securing carrier capacity, and identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and carrier partners through consistent communication and exceptional service.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring customer needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
- Coordinate and manage shipments from pickup through delivery, providing proactive updates and solutions when challenges arise.
- Secure carrier capacity by leveraging existing carrier relationships and negotiating competitive rates.
- Generate timely and accurate freight quotes based on market conditions and customer requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Sales, and Tracking teams to ensure seamless execution and communication.
- Identify opportunities to grow customer accounts by introducing additional transportation and logistics solutions.
- Prospect and onboard new customers while supporting the overall growth of the brokerage.
- Maintain accurate customer, carrier, and shipment information within TMS and CRM systems.
- Stay informed on market trends, rates, capacity changes, and industry developments to better support customers.
- Vet and onboard carriers in accordance with company standards, ensuring compliance with insurance and brokerage requirements.
- Resolve service issues quickly and professionally while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and support company initiatives focused on growth and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Previous experience in logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, account management, or a related field preferred.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Comfortable working with technology, including TMS, CRM platforms, load boards, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to analyze market conditions and provide competitive transportation solutions.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and follow-through.
- Self-motivated, coachable, and driven to contribute to individual and company growth.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage time-sensitive shipments and customer requests.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of transportation modes including truckload, drayage, intermodal, refrigerated, flatbed, and specialized freight is preferred.
