Senior Data Modeler - Data Warehouse

Salary: $91,700 - 163,700 per year Requirements:

• We require 10+ years of IT experience.
• We require 7+ years of experience in data modeling, data strategy, and roadmap development for large, complex health organizations and systems, including delivery of large-scale end-to-end data management and analytics solutions for multiple large clients.
• We require 5+ years of experience with healthcare data security and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, PHI, PII, and related standards.
• We require 5+ years of experience using Erwin Data Model or comparable tools such as ER/Studio or SQL Developer Data Modeler.
• We require 5+ years of strong domain knowledge in Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial healthcare data sets.
• We require 5+ years of advanced SQL expertise, including complex analytical queries, stored procedures, DDL, DML, and DCL, plus query optimization and ANSI-standard coding.
• We require 5+ years of experience in data quality, data profiling, data governance, data security, metadata management, MDM, data archival, and data migration strategies.
• We require expertise in normalized OLTP, OLAP, MDM, and dimensional modeling methods, including star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, role-playing dimensions, dimensional hierarchies, and data classification.
• We value proven problem-solving, influencing, communication, and presentation skills, along with a self-starting approach.
• We expect the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, tight deadlines, interruptions, and multiple concurrent projects.
• We need someone who can work independently with strong planning, strategic thinking, estimation, and scheduling capabilities.
• Preferred experience includes Microsoft Azure cloud services, Snowflake, Power BI or Tableau, Medicaid EDW or MMIS programs, ETL tools such as Informatica or Azure Data Factory, BI/reporting tools, Python or R, Delta Lake or Lakehouse architecture, Microsoft Fabric, Teradata Vantage modernization, and AI/ML or GenAI tools.

• We develop and execute long-term data architecture strategy and standards in collaboration with users, clients, and key stakeholders.
• We lead data architecture, data modeling, and data movement initiatives that strengthen our healthcare data warehouse supporting Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial analytics.
• We define how logical designs are translated into physical databases and how data moves through each stage of the platform.
• We document our data architecture and enterprise environment to maintain an accurate, current view that supports a single source of truth and future analytics growth.
• We analyze business needs and convert them into sustainable solution data models, while evaluating existing systems and creating conceptual data models and data flows.
• We design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical models across staging, integration, and semantic or presentation layers.
• We build dimensional, normalized, OLAP, and Data Vault models and implement dimensional patterns, surrogate keys, and data classification.
• We define keys, indexes, partitioning, constraints, and referential integrity rules to improve quality and performance.
• We produce and maintain ERDs, data flow diagrams, and model documentation using Erwin or equivalent tools.
• We ensure our data strategies and architectures comply with regulatory requirements and update policies and procedures where needed.
• We oversee mapping of data sources, movements, interfaces, and analytics to strengthen data quality.
• We maintain data model policies, metadata procedures, data dictionaries, business glossaries, and lineage documentation.
• We support protection of sensitive data in alignment with HIPAA, PHI, and SOX requirements.
• We partner with ETL architects, business subject matter experts, and other stakeholders through solution design and implementation to deliver scalable, high-performance data solutions.
• We resolve issues related to system integration, compatibility, and cross-platform data integration.
• We create and implement key components and testing criteria to verify data architecture fidelity and performance.
• We communicate promptly with clients and project teams, escalating issues and risks as needed.
• We support modernization work by helping migrate legacy Teradata models to cloud platforms such as Azure Synapse, Databricks Lakehouse, and Snowflake.
• We design future-state models using medallion architecture, Delta Lake, and Parquet patterns.
• We assess existing models for modernization opportunities, redundancy, and optimization, and we recommend improvements to architects.
