Commercial Electrical Estimator

Lighthouse Electrical is seeking a Commercial Electrical Estimator who is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and profitable cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects. This role analyzes plans, specifications, and bid documents; evaluates project risks and opportunities; and collaborates with operations, project management, vendors, and customers to secure profitable work. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical electrical knowledge, commercial construction experience, and the ability to build relationships with general contractors, owners, engineers, and suppliers throughout the Central Texas market. Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) with Company Match Paid Time Off Professional Development and Training Opportunities Key Responsibilities Review plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to determine project requirements Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for: Power distribution systems Lighting systems Low-voltage systems Site electrical work Emergency power systems Specialty electrical systems Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations Prepare complete project estimates, proposals, and bid packages Identify scope gaps, exclusions, clarifications, and value-engineering opportunities Maintain accurate estimate documentation and bid records Business Development & Client Relations Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, engineers, and architects Participate in pre-bid meetings and project walkthroughs Assist in developing strategies to win targeted projects Represent the company professionally throughout the bidding process Identify labor, material, scheduling, and execution challenges Evaluate project profitability before bid submission Project Turnover Conduct detailed handoff meetings with project management and field leadership Provide estimate assumptions, labor projections, procurement strategies, and risk considerations Support project teams during startup and execution as needed Qualifications Required 5+ years of commercial electrical estimating experience Strong understanding of commercial electrical construction methods and systems Experience estimating projects ranging from $100,000 to $8 million+ Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications Proficiency with estimating software such as: Accubid ConEst Electronic Bid Monitor (EBM) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Valid driver's license Preferred 10+ years of electrical industry experience Field experience as an electrician, foreman, or superintendent Experience in healthcare, higher education, mission-critical, industrial, or large commercial projects Texas electrical industry experience and contractor relationships Core Competencies Electrical Systems Knowledge Commercial Construction Expertise Relationship Building Attention to Detail Time Management Problem Solving Leadership and Teamwork Performance Metrics The Electrical Estimator will be measured on: Metric Target Bid Volume: Annual target established by leadership Metric Target Estimate Quality: Minimal scope gaps and omissions Pipeline Development: Negotiated and repeat-client opportunities Proposal Timeliness: On-time bid submissions Customer Relationships: Repeat business and client feedback Preconstruction Support: Successful turnover and project startup We maintain a drug-free workplace and are committed to ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive environment for all employees and customers.
