Assistant in Training (AIT) / Assistant Manager The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibilities include performing a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). The role works with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, train and motivate teammates, and act as the store manager. Salary: $18-$22/hr. For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales. The estimated base rate plus commission for teammates in this full‑time role is outlined below. Sales Generation and Guest Service Eager and assertive to answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise. Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs. Demonstrate product utilization, product knowledge, and sales education. Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies. Remain consistent on personal sales, looking for opportunities to impact teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG). Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by Store Management. Provide legendary service throughout the store in key areas: sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area. Fill out and effectively use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily. Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business areas. Investigate and navigate expanding guest selection through inventory manager, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc. Lead by example with high showmanship, excellent customer service, and feedback from Manager. Plan sales goals with Store Manager. Demonstrate ownership of store’s sales performance (sales, average sale, teammate recruiting, training and development). Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers and recruit teammates to meet Buckle’s accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention, and sales presentation standards. Maintain a positive attitude and create a positive floor culture. Demonstrate personal dress code and coach the latest fashion. Participate effectively in daily setup, training, reviewing, and using Performance Tracker. Motivate teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks set by Store Management. Passion for denim and ability to demonstrate merchandise. Partner with Store Manager to pick store’s education focus and delegate tasks. Execute all segments to support business goals. Assist Store Manager in recruitment of all store staffing needs. Execute training on Leadership playbook, SPG teammate/leader training shifts. Responsible for training and coaching across all non‑sales positions. Assertive execution of constantly changing sales focuses. Identify and follow through on all teammate training needs. Visual Merchandise Management Recognize and assign zones to teammates daily. Explain and demonstrate new tools and videos. Delegate, demonstrate, and review all 4 zones. Ensure teammates follow visual standards, visual library, and weekly visual checklist. Communicate merchandising opportunities and solutions to Store Manager. Conduct store tours. Maintain consistent size of sales floor and proper freight handling. Improve overall visual performance via Performance Tracker. Responsible for visual standards on floor and backroom. Operations Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Watch for and recognize security risks; prevent theft and follow Loss Prevention guidelines. Execute point of sale procedures. Handle calls from the Corporate Office. Apply payment, return, exchange, and Loss Prevention policies. Provide guidance to non‑sales staff. Cover shifts as need arises. Maintain a clean, organized store. Provide feedback on merchandise and policy violations. Understand and apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics. Submit new hire paperwork promptly. Plan week/month/year inventory activities. Complete markdowns, pulls, freight, recalls, and returns. Establish relationships with Corporate Office. Monitor supplies inventory. Handle emergencies in Store Manager’s absence. Give and receive feedback. Promote personal and store growth. Self‑educate on company tools. Travel to cover other stores if required. Assist in special projects. Supervise Store Manager as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED; related retail experience and/or training. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel, including overnight as needed. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
