Surgical Assistant

Job Description The Texas A&M School of Dentistry in Dallas is seeking a Surgical Assistant for the Periodontics department. The candidate will support high‑volume clinical operations and assist graduate students in periodontal surgery. What you need to know Salary: $21.51/hour. Work Schedule/Location: On‑site in Dallas, Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm. Qualifications Education: High school graduation or equivalent training and experience. Experience: Minimum 2 years in a dental surgeon’s office. Preferred: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience. Licenses/Certifications: Registered Dental Assistant in Texas and CPR certified. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Working knowledge of spreadsheet, presentation, and word‑processing software. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Responsibilities Clinical: Coordinate scheduling and patient records; assist during periodontal surgeries; monitor sedated patients; record vital signs; provide radiographic services; operate radiograph equipment; assist with patient preparation; perform instrument prep and disinfection; handle tissue/biopsy specimens; perform wound care; deliver post‑operative instructions. Administration: Maintain cleanliness and sterility of exam and treatment rooms; manage supplies; ensure compliance with infection control protocols. Communication: Act as liaison among patients, providers, and team members; communicate respectfully and promptly.
