The laboratory of Swati Deb is seeking a researchassistant interested in working and gaining experience in the areaof Molecular Biology of Cancer. Position Responsibilities Perform assigned research work as well as routine tasks in aresearch environment Assist in performing assigned laboratory tasks without constantsupervision Assist staff in laboratory work Clean and stock supplies to laboratories, clean glassware,maintain inventory, perform assays, set up and conductexperiments Must be able to organize work, collect and analyze data, makecalculations, prepare reports, keep records, and make independentdecisions Ability to complete assigned special projects with minimalsupervision Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Higher education degree in one of the relevant scientificfields such as Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology,Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, etc. Relevantcoursework as well as knowledge of lab equipment andprocedures Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a staff member at VCU This is a restricted position with no set end date; continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding,and performance.
