Bismarck State College is seeking an engaging and student-focused Assistant Professor of Accounting & Finance to join our team. This position is ideal for an educator who enjoys combining real-world expertise with hands-on teaching to prepare students for dynamic careers in business and finance.
- Delivering high-quality classroom instruction in accounting and finance courses.
- Developing and maintaining relevant, industry-aligned curriculum.
- Mentoring and advising students to support academic and professional success.
- Assessing student learning outcomes and supporting continuous program improvement.
- Collaborating with colleagues, community partners, and industry professionals.
- Supporting internships and experiential learning opportunities.
- Assisting with accreditation efforts, recruitment, retention, and departmental record keeping.
- Participating in institutional service through committee work and campus involvement.
- Engaging in scholarly research, professional development, and community outreach.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean and Academic Division Dean.
- Master's degree in Accounting or a Master's degree in Business, Business Administration, or Management with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a Master's degree with at least 15 graduate credits in Accounting or a Master's degree in Business/Business Administration and a CPA license.
- Documented successful experience teaching accounting and finance courses.
- Documented successful experience with recruiting collegiate students.
- Documented successful collegiate teaching experience.
- Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and ability to work as a team member.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to articulate and support the polytechnic philosophy with a strong commitment to teaching and learning in a polytechnic setting.
- Good working knowledge of computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office, email & electronic calendar - Outlook).
- Creative in using a variety of teaching resources, media, and instructional technologies.
- DBA or other appropriate doctorate.
- Higher education teaching experience in different modalities, traditional, online, hybrid.
- Experience with curriculum development.
- Experience with hands-on teaching methods.
