Job Title: SSHE Specialist II Location: Georgetown, Guyana Type of Role: Contract Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) Specialist to support one or more SSHE disciplines within a specific site or functional group of an affiliate. The ideal candidate will provide subject matter expertise in one or more SSHE areas while influencing field operations through strong operational and/or maintenance knowledge and effective collaboration with operations, manufacturing, pipeline, and other field teams. Although the role does not carry formal authority, the SSHE Specialist will drive positive outcomes through technical expertise, strong communication, and effective interpersonal skills when working with diverse groups. This position may encompass some, but not all, of the responsibilities outlined below. Responsibilities and Essential Duties Support the workforce in implementing SSHE processes, safety instructions, procedures, and hazard management strategies while ensuring compliance with project plans and applicable company programs. Promote and facilitate active workforce participation in the effective application of SSHE processes and initiatives. Proactively identify SSHE-related concerns at project sites and support the timely and effective resolution of issues. Participate in contractor qualification activities and provide support for additional SSHE initiatives as directed by the SSHE Lead. Review and provide input on project-specific procedures, manuals, and related documentation, as appropriate. Oversee the management, inspection, and maintenance of SHE-critical equipment, including fire response systems, oil spill response equipment, portable gas detectors, lifeboats, life rafts, and life vests. Review annual Emergency Response Team (ERT) drill programs and provide feedback to the central OIMS team and System 10-2 Administrator, while ensuring Emergency Response Plans are effectively communicated to ERT members and relevant personnel. Coordinate emergency response teams in collaboration with the On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) during emergency situations and manage the Forward Control Point (FCP) as required. Qualifications and Experience Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required. Proven experience in safety-related roles, including prior experience within the oil and gas industry. Working knowledge of security processes, procedures, and best practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to function effectively within a project team environment. Previous experience working in multicultural and multilingual environments, preferably within emerging nations, is considered an asset. Demonstrated track record of delivering strong project SSHE performance and results. Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships, with a collaborative team-oriented approach. Capable of prioritizing tasks and working independently while adhering to company policies, processes, and procedures.
