• Orientation: Structured three-day orientation including onboarding, education, unit-based training, and supervised clinical practice

PCU RN Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent progressive care, step-down, respiratory, or comparable acute-care nursing experience
• Valid Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact-state RN license
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate degree in nursing or an approved nursing certificate
• Valid driver's license
• Demonstrated ability to care for patients requiring respiratory monitoring, complex intravenous therapies, and progressive levels of care
• Strong communication, patient assessment, prioritization, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills

Progressive Care RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with complex medical and respiratory conditions in a 26-bed progressive care setting
• Care for patients with COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, pulmonary embolism, gastrointestinal bleeding, ventilator support needs, and cardiac or renal conditions requiring continuous intravenous therapies
• Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Manage high-flow oxygen, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, peripheral IV starts, and other progressive-care nursing interventions
• Administer and monitor continuous infusions, including amiodarone, diltiazem, furosemide, bumetanide, and dobutamine, according to clinical orders and facility protocols
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, hospitalists, charge nurses, patient care technicians, IV services, case management, social work, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and maintain compliance with applicable nursing standards
• Participate in the assigned weekend, holiday, and floating rotations
