Job Description
The Dietary Cook plays a vital role in preparing nutritious and safe meals tailored to the specialized dietary needs of long-term care residents. Working within a medium-sized kitchen team and reporting to the Dietary Manager, this position demands careful attention to medical dietary requirements such as diabetic and renal diets, as well as allergen-free meal preparation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare meals according to specialized medical diets and allergen-free requirements
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards
- Manage inventory and assist with ordering to maintain adequate kitchen supplies
- Maintain organized and clean kitchen workspaces
- Monitor quality control to uphold meal standards and resident satisfaction
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience in dietary cooking
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Proficient in operating kitchen equipment
- Strong time management and attention to detail skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
