Agave Operational GeneralistFresh off a $15M Series A led by Accel (total funding now $20M+), Agave is profitable, growing fast, and scaling the team. We're hiring a sharp, resourceful generalist to help run the operational backbone of the company — the systems and processes that keep money moving and the business running cleanly as we scale.We're building the financial ops platform for construction, a $12T global industry run by software built 20-40 years ago, much of it on-prem with no APIs and no documentation.We spent 3 years building the rails to read and write across those systems, and we use them to deploy AI for invoicing, expenses, compliance, billing, and more.We have 550+ customers and have been profitable & cashflow positive for over two years. We're backed by Accel and Y Combinator, with investors from Procore, Autodesk, and Plaid. Our three co-founders have worked together for 12+ years, across Graphiq (acquired by Amazon in 2017) and Amazon.We've built something people actually need, in a market most of Silicon Valley ignores — which is exactly why we're winning. The only thing slowing us down is hiring. Our team is small, scrappy, and high-caliber, and we're looking for the next wave of builders who will help take Agave from breakout startup to category-defining company.Why Are We Hiring This Role?We're growing fast, and the operational surface area of the business is expanding just as quickly. More customers means more invoices to send, more payments to track, more partners to pay, and more processes that can't stay in someone's head or a one-off spreadsheet.We need someone to own how the business actually runs behind the scenes: making sure money moves accurately and on time, partners are paid correctly, and our external presence stays sharp.ResponsibilitiesOwn and execute key business operations, including (but not limited to):Revenue operations & finance: be the backbone of how money moves through the company, from invoice to cash to reporting.Own end-to-end customer billing and invoicing through Stripe, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clean handoffs with customersTrack customer payments — what's been billed, what's been collected, and what's outstanding — and follow up on anything lateTrack, reconcile, and report on revenue across all streams (subscriptions, add-ons, partners, and more)Build and maintain lightweight systems so we always have a reliable, up-to-date view of our revenue and cashManaging sales tax compliance through NumeralOwn billing emailVendor & Partner Management — make sure partner revenue is tracked, paid, and never a black boxTrack revenue received from vendors and partnersManage rev-share calculations and payouts to VARsMarketing OperationsManage logistics for conferences, trade shows, and eventsOwn and publish company social media postsMaintain and refresh product assets across the website, marketplace listings, and sales materialsSpecial Projects — take on high-value, loosely scoped projects that need someone who can figure it out without being told how.e.g., we need a new invoicing tool — research the options and propose a solution we can roll oute.g., build a model to evaluate partner API usage across customerse.g., stand up billing and payment reporting that gives leadership a clean weekly view of cashRequirementsWho You Are:Graduate from a top university (e.g. Stanford, Berkeley, Princeton, MIT, etc.) with a strong academic record1+ years of experience working in operations at a startup OR proven operational experience at a top-tier consulting firmOpen to high-slope new grads.Hungry to learn, resourceful, and excited to get hands-on experience at a fast-growing startupComfortable wearing many hats and figuring things out quickly with limited directionMust Have:Curiosity, hustle, and ability to figure things out quicklyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDetail-orientation and organizational skillsComfortable operating independently and efficiently, with little upfront guidanceDesire to learn, experiment, and use data to iterate to better decisionsNice to Have:STEM undergraduate degreeExperience with Stripe, billing/revops tooling, or building lightweight automationsThis Role May Be a Great Fit If…You like being the person who makes the trains run on time.
