Certified Surgical Technologist - OR - FT Nights

Position Summary Certified surgical technician providing intra-operative support. Assists the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub person who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures. Maintains constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field. Prepares operating rooms for surgery, using appropriate techniques. Provides technical services and assists in other areas as assigned and directed. Participates in department performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. Key Responsibilities Utilize the written individualized Physician Preference Card for the surgical procedure. Coordinate with circulating nurse to provide supplies, equipment and instruments for designated surgical procedures. Conduct and document sponge, instrument and needle counts. Utilize a working knowledge of current surgical scrub technology and medical terminology. Coordinate with circulating nurse to continuously assess case progress and patient's safety. Properly operate and document operation of all equipment utilized. Adhere to safety precautions during use of electrosurgical units, lasers, and any surgical equipment. Handle and label specimens. Minimum Requirements Education: Completion of formal education/training to obtain a Certification as a Surgical Tech Experience: Knowledge and experience in operative procedures, equipment and instrumentation.
