Senior Project Accountant

This role sits at the intersection of accounting and operations, working directly with project leaders to understand the financial health of active projects and make sure the numbers behind them stay on track. Why This Role Stands Out Compensation up to $110,000 depending on experience Highly visible role partnering directly with operational and project leadership Broad ownership across project accounting rather than repetitive transactional work Opportunity to influence project profitability and financial performance Established organization with a sophisticated accounting environment Collaborative team with strong opportunities for professional development Exposure to complex projects, reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis Opportunity to help improve processes and how the organization uses its financial systems What You’ll Own Manage the financial accounting lifecycle for assigned projects Partner with Project Managers to understand project performance, budgets, and financial expectations Prepare and review project billing and ensure invoices are accurate and timely Monitor work in progress, unbilled activity, revenue, costs, and project profitability Analyze actual results against forecasts and identify potential issues early Maintain accurate project setup and financial information within the ERP Support revenue recognition and ensure project activity is recorded accurately during month end close Review project financial reports and communicate meaningful findings to stakeholders Partner with AR regarding collections, outstanding balances, and billing discrepancies Research and resolve complex project accounting issues Support internal and external audit requests Identify opportunities to streamline reporting, billing, and accounting processes Provide ad hoc analysis to finance and operational leadership What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Strong progressive accounting experience with exposure to project accounting, job costing, WIP, billing, revenue, or project financial reporting Experience within construction, AEC, engineering, architecture, manufacturing, industrial services, or another project-based business strongly preferred Ability to understand the financial performance of a project beyond simply processing transactions Experience partnering directly with Project Managers, Operations, or other non-accounting leaders Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with a sophisticated ERP such as Deltek, SAP, Oracle, or similar Advanced Excel skills Excellent communication skills and confidence working cross-functionally Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously Logistics Compensation: Up to $110,000 depending on experience Schedule: Fully onsite Employment Type: Full time, permanent Industry Background: Construction, AEC, engineering, manufacturing, or similar strongly preferred ERP Experience: Required Start Date: ASAP Ready For More Ownership?
