Responsibilities

  • Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, caulking, masking, and priming to ensure proper adhesion and a smooth finish.

  • Apply paint, stain, epoxy, and specialty coatings to walls, ceilings, doors, trim, and structural components in accordance with project specifications.

  • Operate brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other painting tools safely and efficiently to achieve consistent, professional results.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, finish schedules, and manufacturer specifications to ensure all finishes align with project requirements.

  • Mix and match paint colors to achieve required finishes and maintain consistency across all surfaces.

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation methods, coating systems, and application techniques used in commercial construction.

  • Ability to safely work from ladders, scaffolding, and lifts in active construction environments.

  • Familiarity with commercial construction job sites, including trade sequencing and coordination requirements.

  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to high-quality workmanship.

  • Ability to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions as required by the job site.

  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance to support travel to different job sites.

  • Proficiency using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment for commercial painting applications.

Work Environment

You will work on commercial construction job sites across multiple locations, primarily on projects such as restaurants, hotels, retail spaces, wellness facilities, industrial sites, and other commercial buildings. The standard schedule runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the first day starting at the shop at 7:30 a.m. to meet the team, receive personal protective equipment, and then travel to the job site. The paint team is in a growth phase, currently built around an existing paint lead, with plans to expand the crew. The work environment requires consistent use of safety gear, including hard hats, high-visibility vests or shirts, safety glasses, and work boots. Steel-toe boots are required and must be provided by the employee. On day one, employees are expected to bring their own basic hand tools, such as pouches, tape, hammer, pliers, a speed square, and a drill and impact driver with batteries. The company provides core PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, and high-visibility shirts.
