This is a Grant Funded Position for a specified duration. This Grant is scheduled to expire on: 2028-09-28 Summary: Accountable for the effective administration and efficient allocation and utilization of available clinical resources in either a Partial Hospital Program (PHP), Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH), or Outpatient Behavioral Health is setting (OP). The Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor reports to and works under the supervision of the Medical Director and Program Manager (PHP), Practice Manager (IBH or OP), or Director of Behavioral Health (BFMC PHP) to provide adequate clinical supervision and leadership and to ensure all policies and procedures are efficiently carried out throughout the program. All clinical program staff report directly to the Program Manager except for the advanced practice nurses. Under the direction of Program and Medical Leadership, the Clinical Supervisor assists in planning and implementing methods of care delivery that are consistent with the established model of care. The Clinical Supervisor supports awareness among all staff of clinical and operating performance and general hospital cost-containment methods. Works with Program and Medical Leadership in the supervision and coordination of staff regarding all clinical issues, scheduling, orientation, training, competencies, and staff development. In addition, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for assisting in performance evaluations, wage changes, disciplinary actions, hiring, termination, and similar actions. In concert with Medical and Program/Practice Leadership, the clinical supervisor investigates and resolves complaints and problems that have been referred to the incumbent. In addition, the Clinical Supervisor continually updates clinical knowledge and skills in Behavioral Health through consultation, formal and informal education, and review of current literature. The Clinical Supervisor creates a culture that values and supports inquiry and learning and fosters a highly engaged workforce. In addition, it establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with professionals within and outside the hospital organization, including professional organizations, mental health agencies, and graduate schools that may send students for training. Under the Medical and Program/Practice Leadership direction, the Clinical Supervisor participates in health system-wide behavioral health initiatives as assigned. Job Requirements: Under the direction of the Clinical Program Manager, Practice Manager, and Medical Directors, the Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor will provide comprehensive oversight of the child outpatient behavioral health therapy programming at Baystate’s 300 Carew St location. These programs have varying focuses on trauma-specific treatment, early childhood mental health, and medical coping, including eating disorder support. This role includes supervising individual, family, and group therapy services in collaboration with the Clinical Program Manager, ensuring high-quality, culturally response care. The Clinical Supervisor will support clinicians in crisis intervention, case management, and care coordination, while also guiding teams in the implementation of evidence-based treatment models. Additionally, the Clinical Supervisor will help identify and facilitate access to specialized consultation and training resources to enhance clinical expertise and guidance across the programs. The Clinical Supervisor will also maintain a small, active caseload to provide direct clinical services and remain closely connected to program operations and client needs. This position requires the Supervisor be onsite Monday-Friday in-person. Conducts regular supervision meetings with clinical staff, provides verbal and written feedback to achieve learning goals and clinical competency and provides clinical direction for professional development. Monitors and promotes staff compliance with administrative tasks and functions. Contributes to the overall clinical excellence of the service by modeling and teaching quality clinical practices. Provides and/or arranges in-service training of staff to develop and maintain clinical competency. Ensures that clinical care in the Program or Practice meets quality criteria established by the Department. Coordinates activities including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, and evaluating staff. Makes practical recommendations on employee hiring, transfer, promotion, wage change, discipline, termination, and similar actions. Completes performance evaluations in conjunction with Medical and Program/Practice Leadership. When needed, use progressive disciplinary processes with staff who have job performance issues. Participates in program development, including the study and implementation of interdisciplinary innovations in evaluation and treatment and system-wide coordination of care. Collaborates with Medical and Program/Practice Leadership in service policy planning and development. Develops solid and open liaisons and close working relationships internally and externally with appropriate service providers. Participates in relevant professional meetings and conferences. Supervises and maintains a coordinated information system, including program statistics, performance indicators, access, productivity, patient satisfaction, and outcomes, as indicated by departmental needs. Creates a culture that values and supports inquiry and learning and fosters a highly engaged workforce. Provides opportunities for multidisciplinary forums to problem solve and facilitate planning. Develops, modifies, and maintains procedures, standards, and manuals. Works with Medical and Program/Practice Leadership to ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agency standards, laws, and regulations apply to Behavioral Health Services. Ensures adherence to all health and safety requirements. Prepares records and reports as required. Monitors and evaluates clinical documentation and assures compliance with regulations and standards. In addition, develops, implements, and reports Performance Improvement activities in conjunction with Medical and Program/Practice Leadership. Monitors and assures staff competencies, continuing education requirements, licensure, and certifications are current. Assists in promoting, coaching, and guiding the continuing professional development and growth of staff. Serves as a role model for professional development to the team. Participates in and assists with the preparation of the budget and ensures adherence to budgetary limitations/expectations. In addition, the Program/Practice Manager maintains awareness of cost center financial performance assists with the development of priorities for purchase of capital equipment, efficient operations, optimal use of resources, and proper billing practices. Performs direct clinical care as indicated by the department’s needs and budgeted clinical FTE for the position. Outpatient and Integrated Behavioral Health maintain strong collaborative relationships with partners and leaders in Medical Specialty Practices (OP) and the Primary Care Service Line (IBH). In OP, this includes seeking opportunities to maximize the value of collaborative care for patients with co-occurring medical and behavioral health disorders, including developing partnerships with new specialties as indicated. For IBH, this includes maintaining relationships and regular contact with leaders in primary care practices where IBH clinicians are working and with Primary Care Service Line leadership regarding more comprehensive strategies of IBH implementation and optimization. In PHP, works with Medical and Program Leadership to develop and maintain evidence-based models of care and efficient operations to assure clinical excellence, access to care, and financial viability. In addition, it provides supervision and guidance to the multidisciplinary care team to ensure orientation and training, ongoing performance competency, adherence to clinical models of care and regulatory and accreditation compliance, continuous professional growth, and employee engagement. As a clinical leader in the Behavioral Health Service Line participates in activities that promote the discipline of clinical behavioral health and its contribution to the mission of Baystate Health including support of internships and training programs, supervision of clinicians working toward independent licensure, and participation in system-wide education, quality, and performance improvement initiatives. Minimally Required Experience: Supervisory experience in an outpatient behavioral health setting, partial hospitalization setting, psychiatric inpatient setting, or other comparable psychiatric treatment setting required. Treatment of individuals with co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders is desirable. Skills/Competencies: The individual, group, and family therapy with adults and/or children with psychiatric disorders. Ability to provide clinical supervision. Ability to work in a team-oriented multidisciplinary arena recognizing the importance of promoting optimum team coordination and functioning. Minimally Required Education: Doctorate, Clinical Psychology Preferred Education: License: Licensed Psychologist Education: Doctor of Psychology (Required) Certifications: Compensation Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
