Duke Health Integrated Practice comprises more than 110 primary and specialty outpatient clinics, extending the reach of the Duke Health mission across the state of North Carolina.JOB LOCATION: Duke Triangle Heart Associates - 1821 Hillandale RdJob SummaryThe Exercise Specialist role is a healthcare professional trained to perform clinical exercise stress testing procedures, including in conjunction with cardiac imaging (Nuclear Perfusion and Echocardiography). They will also work in ambulatory monitoring which includes placement and scanning of ambulatory monitoring, scheduling, and work with multiple ambulatory monitoring software systems.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesParticipate in screening individuals' medical histories and current health status to identify major health risk factorsAdminister stress testing procedures in conjunction with cardiac imaging (Nuclear Perfusion and Echocardiography)Recognize symptom changes & signs of problems; understand absolute and relative contraindications to stress testingKnow appropriate medical response / processes. Initiate first responder carePlacement and scanning of ambulatory cardiac (short and long term monitors) and blood pressure monitors following established protocolsIncludes extensive working knowledge of EPIC including scheduling, documentation, and reportingWork with multiple ambulatory monitoring software for monitor download, scanning, and event summariesAlert and document critical events to reading provider(s) as necessaryAssist Nuclear Medicine Technologist with required documentation for IAC-Nuclear accreditation, NC State Radiologic Imaging documentation, and assist Echocardiography Technical Director with documentation for IAC-EchocardiographyPrecept new hires, facilitate onboarding tasks and update orientation process as needed in conjunction with managerProvide education to staffIdentify diagnostic stress lab needs; manages appropriate level of supplies and monitors equipment maintenanceAssess the stress-testing environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety and compliance with various regulatory bodies (OSHA, Joint commission, etc.)Identify opportunities to enhance workflows in collaboration with clinic leadershipAssist in other areas of the clinic including patient intake and rooming, EKGs, and other tasks as designated by managerUpdate and assist with protocol and policiesJob Eligibility RequirementsBachelor's degree in Exercise Science/Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field required. No previous experience required, however 1-year applicable experience preferred. AHA BLS certification; ACLS within a year of hire. ACSM certification (Exercise Physiologist or Clinical Exercise Physiologist) preferred. One year of clinical exercise testing experience preferred.
