Growing together.As a Lead Software Engineer on the Public Cloud Platform Team, you will drive the architecture, development, and operationalization of enterprise-grade multi-cloud platforms across Azure, AWS, and GCP. You will lead cutting-edge initiatives focused on cloud governance, networking, security, and automation while designing scalable backend services and Infrastructure as Code frameworks. In this role, you will champion modern software engineering principles, robust DevOps practices, and AI-powered automation tools to streamline workflows, enforce compliance, and deliver high-impact cloud capabilities for the enterprise.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:Design, architect, and implement multi-cloud infrastructure, networking, and governance frameworks across AWS, Azure, and GCP platformsDevelop and maintain scalable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using Terraform to automate cloud resource provisioning and configuration managementBuild enterprise-grade backend microservices and automation tooling utilizing Golang or PythonCollaborate with enterprise security and compliance teams to integrate cloud guardrails, policy enforcement, and automated security controls into cloud platformsEstablish and mature DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines to ensure automated, secure, and reliable software deliveryDesign, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions and automations to address complex engineering and operational challenges with an emphasis on responsible AI useLeverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline software development workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and drive continuous platform improvementEvaluate emerging cloud and AI technology trends to inform solution design, technical roadmap development, and strategic innovationYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications:8+ years of professional software engineering or cloud engineering experience5+ years of hands-on programming experience with Golang or Python3+ years of experience architecting, building, and deploying solutions on public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)3+ years of experience authoring and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform2+ years of experience designing and automating CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflowsDemonstrated experience integrating security, compliance, and governance tools into cloud architectures at scalePreferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)Experience operating across multi-cloud environments (simultaneous hands-on expertise with AWS, Azure, and GCP)Experience utilizing modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering, automation, and testing workflowsProfessional certifications in Public Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, GCP Cloud Architect) or HashiCorp Certified: Terraform AssociateKnowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
