Behavior Interventionist

Job TitleTo provide support and intervention for students with continuing emotional and/or behavioral problems.Essential Functions:Consults with teachers, counselors, school social workers and other appropriate personnel concerning the behavioral objectives and goals of students.Assists instructional personnel in the development of behavioral plans.Implements behavioral programs designed to make positive and appropriate changes.Works one-on-one with students to effect behavior changes.Assists instructional personnel as necessary.Works with related agencies to develop an effective program of activities for changing unacceptable behavior of students.Provides information to family or other care providers concerning action of students.Ensures consistency of behavioral standards by coordinating with all appropriate students contacts.Works with school personnel to obtain information and advice on prior behavior problems.Provides information as necessary to teachers and other personnel concerning behavioral concerns.Maintains records on contacts with students, which detail all proposed and completed behavioral objectives.Additional Duties:Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.Qualifications:Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Bilingual preferred.Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, and district identified database program applications.Experience working with at-risk youth.Physical Demands:Use strength to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job.Sit, stand and walk for required periods of time.Speak and hear.Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision.Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary.Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, technology equipment, computers, and/or controls.Work Place Expectations:Work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds.Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean and professional manner for the assignment and work setting.Have regular and punctual attendance.Follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities.Adhere to confidentiality as directed by Federal, State and Local Laws/Regulations; and in accordance with district administrative rules as it pertains to sensitive information, employee information and student information.Reports To:PrincipalDays Per Year:180Salary Classification:Paid on the Classified Staff Salary Schedule Level 108Employee Group:ClassifiedApplication Procedures:Must apply online by completing a "Classified" application and adding this specific job to your online application.FLSA Status:Non-ExemptThe Beaufort County School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer
