Job Title: Phlebotomist II - Float will cover the Portland Metro Area

Job Description

The primary responsibility of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in various duties including troubleshooting, training, and providing workflow recommendations. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of specimen collection and processing. Must have reliable transportation to float to different locations in the Portland Metro Area.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
• Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
• Decontaminate and update patient information as necessary.
• Collect and store specimens in accordance with established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate proficiency with both straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Understand and fulfill all physician orders accurately.
• Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
• Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department training.
• Respond to telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results as needed.

Essential Skills

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 2-4 years' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in phlebotomy, blood draw, venipuncture, specimen collection, and specimen processing.
• Customer service skills with experience in pediatrics and geriatrics.

Work Environment

The work schedule is and 8 hour shift between 6 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday , depending on the location covered. Flexibility is required as candidates may be asked to cover different times as needed.

This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.

The pay range for this position is $23.11 - $23.11/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Portland,OR.
