Registered Nurse (RN)

In alignment with the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of the organization, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the comprehensive care of assigned patients during their shift. The RN engages in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care utilizing age-specific criteria and the nursing process. Additionally, the RN plays a vital role in guiding and teaching non-RN staff, including LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.

The position involves coordinating patient care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team and providing education to patients and their families to prepare them for discharge. Flexibility is essential, as the RN may need to adapt to schedule changes as required by the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process.
• Supervise and teach non-RN staff on the unit.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Educate patients and families regarding discharge planning.
• Demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) and/or Rehabilitation nursing.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to demonstrate patience and tact with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities, capable of performing efficiently in high-stress situations.
• Proficient in healthcare principles and practices, utilizing independent judgment as necessary.
• Basic computer skills with experience in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Ability to float to all units within skill level as required.

Certification Requirements

• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Licensure Requirements

• Current and active Ohio or Compact RN License.
