About the Role:

The Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in supporting classroom teachers to create an effective and engaging learning environment for students. This position involves assisting with instructional activities, managing student records, and facilitating communication between students and educators. The Teacher Assistant helps implement lesson plans, supports students with diverse learning needs, and contributes to maintaining an organized and positive classroom atmosphere. By collaborating closely with teachers and other staff, the assistant ensures that educational goals are met and that students receive the attention and resources they need to succeed. Ultimately, the role is essential in enhancing the overall educational experience and fostering student development within the learning center.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or related field preferred.
• Experience working with children in an educational or learning center environment.
• Basic proficiency in managing student records and classroom documentation.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Familiarity with teaching support tasks and classroom assistance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification or coursework in sign language.
• Experience with creative writing or literacy programs.
• Knowledge of SPSS or other statistical software for educational data analysis.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational or youth-focused setting.
• Previous experience working in diverse classroom environments or with special needs students.

Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers in preparing and delivering instructional materials and activities.
• Support students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts and skills.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including attendance and progress logs.
• Utilize creative writing and sign language skills to enhance communication and engagement with students.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to implement classroom management strategies and support leadership initiatives.
• Use SPSS or other data tools to help analyze student performance data when required.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of educational programs.
• Log daily activities and student interactions to ensure consistent documentation and reporting.
