Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Charge Nurse)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 or 26 Weeks) | Nights | 3x12 or 4x12 Hours (19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit, including LDR rooms, OB Triage, Antepartum, OR suites, and PACU
• Regularly serve in the Charge Nurse role , overseeing unit operations and staff coordination during night shifts
• Manage care for induction patients, high-risk antepartum patients, and OB triage patients, with average daily deliveries around 7 and census reaching up to 14 patients
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records
• Float to like units within the facility or affiliate hospitals as needed to meet patient care demands
• Participate in on-call coverage as required and work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)

Required Qualifications

• Active Alaska RN license (pending license accepted for submission; license must be in hand prior to offer)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience; Charge Nurse experience required or willingness to train in the Charge Nurse role
• Hepatitis B vaccine required (titers and declinations not accepted)
• 2 references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required prior to start
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior Charge Nurse experience in a Labor & Delivery or high-risk OB setting
• Experience with Epic electronic health records
• Familiarity with high-volume OB triage and antepartum care environments
