The Clinical Staff Pharmacist will have the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise by evaluating and interpreting medication orders, sterile compounding, and dispensing prescriptions in accordance with legal and professional standards. You will play a critical role in identifying, preventing, and resolving medication-related issues to ensure safe, effective, and individualized patient care. Through the application of evidence-based protocols, you will promote clinically sound and cost-effective drug therapy, contributing to improved patient outcomes and advancing the standard of pharmaceutical care.

Schedule: This position will provide coverage 'as needed'. This position will work weekdays, weekends, and holidays in addition to other shifts as required.

About the Facility: Summit Medical Center provides a wide variety of surgical and ancillary specialties through our extensive network of specialists. Surgical specialties include bariatrics, dentistry, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry, wound care, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, radiology and full laboratory services. Summit Medical Center operates out of two locations in the Oklahoma City metro area. Inpatient procedures are performed at the hospital near 15th and Kelly in Edmond, while outpatient procedures are performed at both this location and the outpatient department on Portland Avenue, just north of the intersection of the Kilpatrick Turnpike and Lake Hefner Parkway (74). We have a total of 9 operating rooms, 13 patient suites, and 2 ICU beds.

About the Pharmacy: Typical pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and Friday shifts may vary based on business needs and can start as early as 6:00 a.m. The department utilizes Meditech as the electronic medical record (EMR) system and Pyxis for automated dispensing machines.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
• Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
• Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding activities, ensuring compliance with USP and hospital standards
• Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
• Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy; PharmD preferred
• Current Oklahoma Pharmacist license in good standing
• Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems
• Proven ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to client concerns
• Demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in a work setting
• Demonstrated effective communications skills; verbal and written

Preferred Qualification:

• Recent experience as a Pharmacist in a Hospital setting

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $44.09 to $78.70 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
