Job Title: RN - Endoscopy Profession: RN Specialty: Endoscopy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10.5 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care Endoscopy RN experience License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS preferred; ACLS preferred Description: This position involves working in the Endoscopy Laboratory. The unit has a total of 9 beds and is staffed by 11 full-time/part-time employees. There are 2 PRN staff members on the unit. The day shift consists of 6-7 RNs and 2 techs. Patient ratios are 2:1 in the intra-op team and 1:2 in the pre/post-op areas. The equipment includes Olympus endoscopes and reprocessing units. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of current acute care Endoscopy RN experience. Experience with Olympus scopes and reprocessing techniques is preferred. Candidates should also possess skills in circulating and tech procedures. Common procedures performed in the unit include EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, and EBUS. Knowledge of infection control, manual cleaning, and high-level disinfection of endoscopes is essential. The ideal candidate can work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team intraoperatively. Staff will perform basic and interventional/therapeutic procedures on high-acuity patients with specialized physicians. Call requirements include 2 shifts per month from 6 AM to 5:30 PM. Additionally, there are 3-4 weeknight shifts from 5:30 PM to 7 AM, 1 Friday per month from 5:30 PM to 11 PM, and 1-2 weekend shifts on Saturday nights.
