Graduate Student Affairs Advisor

The Graduate Student Affairs Officer serves as a key member of the Department of Social Medicine, Population & Public Health (SMPPH) within the UC Riverside School of Medicine, supporting the success of students throughout the Master of Public Health (MPH) program. This position provides comprehensive student services in the areas of recruitment, admissions, academic advising, program administration, student engagement, practicum coordination, and graduation. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, campus partners and community organizations, the incumbent helps deliver an outstanding graduate student experience while ensuring compliance with University policies and supporting the School of Medicine's mission to educate the next generation of public health leaders dedicated to improving the health and well‑being of diverse communities. After successful probation and based on operational needs, the position may become eligible for a hybrid arrangement of three on‑site days and two remote days per week, subject to departmental approval. Salary range: $54,183.60 – $91,350.00; expected pay scale up to $72,766.80 annually. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience and training. Master of Public Health (MPH), Master’s in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a closely related field. 2–4 years of related experience; minimum of 2 years as a professional‑level student affairs officer or equivalent in a research university, effectively advising and counseling students. Prior experience with the Banner student information system. Recent experience as a professional‑level student affairs officer in the University of California system. Demonstrated experience with UC policies and procedures. Knowledge of federal, state, and UC regulations related to student records and confidentiality (FERPA) and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Excellent written communication skills for producing reports, brochures, and other materials. Strong computer proficiency in MS Office and online student information systems. Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal and counseling skills. Problem‑identification and solution‑development abilities. Multicultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations. Judgment, decision‑making, and performance improvement skills. Knowledge of university‑specific application programs and risk‑assessment procedures. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of complex U.S. visa and immigration procedures, compliance issues, and employment eligibility for international students and scholars.
