Position Overview Physician (Radiologist) – Body Imaging/Chest Imaging Posted: 09-Apr-26 Location: Orlando, Florida Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student‑loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be admitted on a tentative basis but can be hired only after all requirements are met. Current VA physicians appointed under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are considered to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements United States citizenship (or eligibility to serve as an officer in the U.S.) English language proficiency, in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) obtained from an VA‑approved medical school. Full and unrestricted medical license in any state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification. Board‑certified physician for faculty status (if required). Residents in ACGME/AOA accredited programs who meet the basic requirements are eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may be appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis; they are not independent practitioners and will not be privileged. Physical requirements: pass a pre‑employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019; must be physically, emotionally, and mentally stable to perform essential functions. Duties The announcement is open and continuous; the first cutoff for applicant referral will be February 19‑2026. Appended vacancies will be filled on an as‑needed basis; the announcement may close without warning if vacancies are filled. Work onsite at the Orlando VA Healthcare System; this is not a teleradiology position. Perform and interpret general radiology examinations, fluoroscopic studies, CT, MRI, and ultrasound studies; participate in protocol development. Generate radiology reports, obtain informed consent, examine veterans clinically when required, write notes in the electronic medical record, and communicate critical findings per policy. Participate in quality management activities, peer review, inspections, and performance‑improvement initiatives. Prescribe exam protocols, review exam requests, and consult with providers regarding image selection and results. Teach students and residents, coordinate patient care with clinical providers, and provide oversight of medication and contrast administration. Provide technical image‑quality feedback to technologists and use diagnostic codes appropriately. Engage in research programs and other duties as required or assigned. Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Recruitment/relocation incentive: sign‑on bonus available; permanent change of station relocation assistance not available.
