The Facilities and Logistics Operations Division (6400) oversees the physical development, maintenance, and safe operation of the Laboratory’s infrastructure to enable advanced workplaces, resilient systems, and uninterrupted mission support. Within this division, the Facilities Engineering & Construction Section (641) provides the planning, design, engineering, and construction services for the efficient and timely delivery of Facilities Construction Projects. We are seeking a Quality Assurance Electrical Engineer for the Engineering & Design Group, a core professional role within the Standards and Compliance sub team. This specialist is responsible for the technical review and permitting of facilities design and construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to building codes, JPL Facilities Design Standards, and evaluating projects for constructability, maintainability, and sustainability. Responsibilities Review electrical design drawings, calculations, and specifications for compliance with NEC, CEC, and applicable codes. Adherence to JPL Facilities Design Standards. Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other building systems. Ensure constructability, clarity, completeness, and long-term maintainability. Review electrical load calculations, short‑circuit and coordination studies, and single‑line diagrams. Review grounding and bonding systems, lighting and lighting control systems, and power distribution systems. Verify compatibility of new electrical systems with existing building infrastructure. Provide clear, concise, actionable QA/QC comments to designers and consultants using Bluebeam. Review resubmittals and verify incorporation of required corrections. Assist in development and maintenance of QA/QC review standards, checklists, and procedures. Participate in technical meetings and internal design reviews; provide guidance on code interpretation and design issues. Identify non‑conforming work, potential safety risks and design deficiencies; support resolution. Maintain accurate records of reviews, approvals and QA/QC documentation. Prepare activity summaries and status/progress reports. Support continuous improvement of design quality, consistency and compliance across facilities projects. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with minimum 6 years of related experience; or Master’s degree with minimum 4 years; or PhD with minimum 2 years. QA/QC experience and design review of moderately complex building or facilities projects. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical building systems, applicable codes, and industry best practices. Ability to read, interpret, and evaluate construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations. Strong written and verbal communication skills; produce clear technical documentation. Demonstrated ability to work independently with efficiency and sound professional judgment. Experience with high‑voltage systems, electrical controls equipment, and controls interfaces. Proficiency with Bluebeam; working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office applications. Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations. Preferred Skills Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional registration. Working knowledge of LEED principles and building commissioning practices.
