Job Summary

We’re seeking a Cadaver Technician Assistant to join our Processing Division. This hands-on role assists with the preparation, handling, organization, storage, and shipment of veterinary cadaver products.

This position supports all stages of the cadaver production process, including preparing specimens, labeling and tagging products, organizing inventory, assisting with shipments, maintaining freezer counts, and helping keep the workspace clean, safe, and efficient.

This is a physically demanding position that requires comfort working with deceased animals, foul odors, wet or slippery work areas, and biological materials. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, team-focused, and able to follow established procedures carefully and safely.

Key Responsibilities

Specimen Preparation & Processing

• Assist with all stages of veterinary cadaver product preparation.
• Use knives and other tools to remove bulk skin, tissue, and meat from skulls to prepare them for further cleaning.
• Prepare specimens according to client needs, including separating parts such as heads, legs, or other requested materials for educational orders.
• Safely handle deceased animals and biological materials with respect and care.
• Transport specimens within the facility and assist with proper disposal of non-reusable materials.

Labeling, Inventory & Organization

• Label and tag products to ensure each skull or specimen has a unique identifier as it moves through the facility.
• Process daily deliveries of veterinary specimens.
• Sort, clean, organize, and store specimens in freezers.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts for all freezers used in cadaver operations.
• Help keep products organized for processing, storage, shipment, or future use.

Packing, Shipping

• Help pack and ship veterinary cadaver products.
• Ensure items are properly cleaned, labeled, packed, and prepared for shipment or storage.

Facility Support & Safety

• Move specimens safely within the production facility, including to and from freezer storage areas.
• Follow sanitation, containment, and safety procedures when handling specimens and biological materials.
• Assist with disposal of non-reusable materials according to company procedures.
• Assist with other shop, processing, and facility duties as needed.
• Keep work areas, tools, and storage areas clean, organized, and safe.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety guidelines.
• Comfort working around deceased animals, biological materials, foul odors, chemicals, and wet/slippery work areas.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with reasonable accommodations if needed.

Preferred

• Previous production, processing, veterinary, taxidermy, or hands-on shop experience.
• Some knowledge of animal anatomy.
• Experience working in a physically demanding environment.

Work Environment

This role is performed in a production/shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, employees are frequently exposed to:

• Deceased animals and biological materials.
• Chemicals and sanitation products.
• Foul odors.
• Wet and slippery floors.
• Freezer areas and cold storage environments.
• Physically demanding tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting, reaching, and constant movement at times.

Employees must be able to work safely and professionally in this type of environment.

Physical Demands

This is a physically active role. Employees must be able to:

• Stand and move for extended periods of time.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with reasonable accommodations if needed.
• Bend, reach, pull, push, carry, and handle materials throughout the workday.
• Safely use knives and tools during specimen preparation.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Approximately 40 hours per week. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on job duties
