INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TECHNICAL SUPPORT ANALYST II/CORRECTIONAL HEALTH

Job Overview Information Technology Technical Support Analyst II – full‑time emergency position supporting Correctional Health Services within Los Angeles County Health Services. The role involves technical support for hardware, software, networks, and applications for a specialized jail population under the Department of Justice Consent Decree. Responsibilities Install, configure, maintain and test computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment. Act as a technical resource to end users and other IT staff, troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving moderately complex hardware, software and network connectivity problems. Identify trends in reported problem calls and implement process or technical improvements. Analyze and make recommendations regarding user support needs or customer satisfaction improvements. Review, test and finalize user instructions and procedures; conduct formal and informal end‑user training and develop technical orientation materials as needed. Lead small hardware and software installation and upgrade projects and participate in larger projects under guidance. Assist in defining and recommending appropriate hardware and software configurations and standards, and develop specifications for the purchase of new equipment, software and peripheral devices. Configure software distribution tools and assist with ordering software licenses in consultation with management. Coordinate equipment delivery, software licensing compliance and inventory/asset control as needed and act in a lead capacity to other technical staff. Qualifications Candidate must meet at least one of the following options: Option I: One (1) year of experience as an IT Technical Support Analyst I – defined as providing technical support under close supervision in a centralized IT organization. Option II: Two (2) years of experience installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting and repairing client computing devices or software in a centralized IT organization. Licensing & Physical Requirements Driver’s License : Valid California Class C Driver’s License or ability to use an alternative method of transportation for essential job functions. Physical Class III – Moderate : Must stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching and working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects over 25 lbs, and frequent lifting of 10–25 lbs. Work Schedule Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Selection Process Initial appointment is for a period of up to 90 days. During this period the candidate’s performance is evaluated on a 100 % weighted assessment. Those who achieve a passing score are considered for permanent appointment to the position.
