Project Engineering Manager Overhead Transmission Line

Senior Transmission Line Engineer / Engineering Manager (Overhead Transmission)

A leading U.S. engineering firm is seeking a senior-level transmission line engineer to lead complex
overhead transmission projects for utility customers and mentor engineering teams. This role is heavily focused on structural
design and offers strong compensation and long-term growth.

Technical Focus

~90% structural engineering (foundations, framing, materials)
Experience with steel, wood, laminate, and composite structures
Lattice tower experience is a plus
EPC and/or utility services experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

Lead engineering execution for large or multi-project transmission programs
Prepare and review complex engineering deliverables and calculations
Manage budgets, schedules, and quality across disciplines
Lead and mentor engineering teams; provide PLS-CADD training
Serve as technical lead and responsible charge on projects
Interface with clients and support pursuit/business development efforts

Preferred Experience

U.S. investor-owned utility transmission projects
Strong understanding of PLS-CADD, line routing, structural loading, and foundation design
Experience coordinating with procurement, permitting, land, and construction teams
Proposal support and engineering cost estimating experience

Locations

Preferred: OR, CA, TX, KS, CO, MN, MI, NC, FL

(Open to candidates near other major U.S. engineering offices)

Compensation

Up to $200,000 base salary
Bonus, ESOP, and full benefits

Qualifications:

Requirements

812+ years of overhead transmission line design experience (69kV+ required)
PLS-CADD experience required
Experience with 500kV+ projects strongly preferred
Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (other engineering degrees considered)
PE license preferred
