This contract position seeks a skilled critical care RN with a passion for cardiovascular intensive care and a commitment to excellence in patient outcomes. Schedule/Hours: Contract position; specific shifts and length discussed at interview Qualifications: Active, unencumbered RN license Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Completion of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Successful completion of a proctored rhythm interpretation test Previous CVICU or high-acuity critical care experience strongly preferred Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Primary Responsibilities: Deliver direct cardiovascular ICU-level care in a 15-bed, high-acuity unit serving patients with diagnoses such as cardiac surgery, cardiac transplant, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, and arrhythmias Provide post-operative management and monitoring for post-ventricular assist device placement and S/P cardiopulmonary arrest Care for a varied patient population, adolescent to late adult (ages 1460+), in alignment with unit standards Implement evidence-based practices for patients requiring advanced therapies, including ECMO support for severe cases Ensure accurate, timely documentation and contribute to interdisciplinary care planning Maintain a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, with support from patient care technicians This is an excellent opportunity for critical care RNs who thrive under pressure and are committed to delivering outstanding care to complex cardiac and neuro/neurosurgical patients.
