Radiology Technician - Correctional Healthcare

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or PART TIME option available
Assignment: Six months, with potential for extension and/or an opportunity to apply for permanent state employment.

Position Overview

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a dependable Radiology Technician to provide diagnostic imaging services at a correctional facility in Represa, California. This position offers a consistent weekday schedule and the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team serving an incarcerated patient population.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations according to provider orders and facility protocols.
• Prepare and position patients to obtain accurate, high-quality images.
• Verify patient identity, explain procedures, and provide respectful, professional care.
• Follow radiation safety, infection prevention, and equipment safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate imaging records and patient documentation.
• Coordinate with medical providers, nursing staff, and custody personnel.
• Follow facility security requirements and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Report equipment issues and concerns affecting patient safety or image quality.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
• Current California certification appropriate to the assigned radiology duties.
• Strong patient care, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a secure correctional environment.
• Ability to meet facility credentialing, health screening, and security clearance requirements.
• Correctional healthcare experience is a plus.

Assignment and Career Opportunity

This is an initial six-month assignment with the possibility of extension based on facility needs and performance. Opportunities to pursue permanent state employment may become available and are subject to a separate state application and hiring process. Extension and state employment are not guaranteed.
