The ED Staff Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and emergency medical needs.This position is ideal for an RN who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works well as part of a collaborative healthcare team, and is committed to providing safe, compassionate, high-quality patient care.Key ResponsibilitiesAssess patients and obtain current symptoms and relevant medical historyPerform triage and prioritize care based on patient condition and acuityDevelop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plansProvide basic life support and assist in stabilizing patients experiencing medical emergenciesMonitor vital signs and other clinical indicators and respond appropriately to changes in patient conditionAssist physicians with examinations, diagnostic testing, treatments, and emergency proceduresPrepare, administer, and document medications and IV therapies as orderedMonitor patients for adverse reactions to medications and treatments and promptly report changes in conditionProvide patient and family education regarding medications, follow-up care, nutrition, rehabilitation, and other post-treatment needsAccurately and timely document assessments, interventions, medications, and other patient care activities in the electronic health recordManage multiple patients simultaneously while continually reassessing and prioritizing patient needsCollaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient careComply with all applicable nursing standards, hospital policies, safety requirements, and regulatory requirementsMaintain professionalism and composure while managing multiple urgent prioritiesEducation & LicensureGraduate of an accredited school of nursingActive West Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license requiredCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months of hirePediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within six months of hireTrauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification required within one year of hireQualificationsStrong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to effectively prioritize and manage multiple patients and competing demandsExperience using electronic health record systemsEmergency Department or emergency nursing experience preferredPhysical RequirementsThe position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly perform activities such as reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping, and arm-hand coordination.
